Recognising gold standard

From the South West Farmer, first published Saturday 7th Mar 2009.

CORNWALL Farmers, one of the largest agricultural co-operatives, has appointed Geoffrey Barrett as a new machinery sales representative.

Geoff's appointment recognises the continued growth of Cornwall Farmers Gold Standard Service machinery division, which to date has grown to a £12 million turnover business.

Geoff joins with a wealth of experience including Liebher, Holt JCB and Karcher and more latterly six years at Vincent Tractors in the Devon and Cornwall region.

"As a salesman in the area for several years I thought I was aware of the Cornwall Farmers' machinery offer," said Geoff. "But now I am part of the team I am pleasantly surprised by the range, sophistication and expertise that Cornwall Farmers can offer the professional farmer. As well as John Deere, Cornwall Farmers also supply machinery from manufactures including Manitou, Pottinger and Flemming and parts from Parts County and Vapormatic, they also supply feed, forage and arable products."

As part of the John Deere "Dealers of the Future" initiative the three agricultural machinery depots, Roche, Penzance and Callington, are being developed into three John Deere Centres of Excellence with Geoff joining an existing team of five specialist sales people.

"We are delighted to welcome Geoff to the team" says Cornwall Farmers chief executive, Andrew Cocks. "He comes with a sound knowledge of agricultural machinery and equally importantly, the trading area in which we operate."

Geoff can be contacted at the Roche office on 01726 890666 or on 07901 854474.
