The Merry Month of May

SOME lovely spring weather has been enjoyed by members of the Somerset Walking Club on their weekly excursions. Despite a dour forecast Maureen Marney had a bright day for her six-mile walk up into the hills south of Blue Anchor Bay and on the next Sunday the sun really shone for Michael Benison's 12-mile circuit of Exmoor hills and rivers from Winsford. Walking first to Tarr Steps then along the River Barle, the party stopped for a lunch break by the sparkling water before continuing to Withypool and over Bye Common. Dippers were busy on the water and spring flowers graced the day.  more...
