Error-prone Albion get another hammering

From the Bridgwater Mercury, first published Saturday 8th Sep 2007.

National Three South: Bridgwater & Albion 18, Mounts Bay 42

POOR defence and basic errors led to Albion conceding 40 points for the second successive game as they were outplayed by an impressive Mounts Bay side at Bath Road on Saturday.

The powerful visitors led 20-11 at the end of a first half in which Albion had done well to stay in touch. When new fly-half Sam Osborne finished off a fine move with the home team's second try four minutes into the second half, it was 20-18 and Mounts Bay looked rattled.

But from that point on, Albion were abject, conceding a string of penalties, dropping the ball and missing tackles as the visitors added three more tries without reply.

Scorers: Albion - Tries: Edwards, Osborne. Con: Gould. Pens: Gould 2. Mounts Bay - Tries: Jarvis (2), Faulkner (2), Dyer. Cons: Jarvis 4. Pens: Jarvis 3.

Albion team: Smee; Edwards, Mansbridge, Webber, Thie (rep Hancock 67); Osborne, Britton; Chase, Hastie, Bryant (rep Trunks 79), Gould, Kemmish, Rawlings (rep Hafoka 73), Rudkin, Purcell.
