Nigel and Alun take honours

CLUB captain Nigel Waters and Alun Dixon won the Four Ball Better Ball Open, in very misty conditions, at Praa Sands Golf Club on Sunday with 56 nett.

Other placings (from Praa Sands, unless otherwise stated): 2, Chris Bowden and Tony Semmens 57, (L9); 3, Roger Fairburn (Falmouth) and Andrew Phillips, 57; 4, Mike Hatch and Scott Willett (Mullion), 59; 5, Simon Phillips and Paul Kirkman, 60 (L9); 6, Brian Joy (West Cornwall) and Don Ruhrmund (West Cornwall), 60 (L9); 7, Steve Strick and Gordon Tamblyn (Mullion), 60 (L9); 8, Joe Hill and Jim Duffield (Portsmouth) 60.

A magnificent 40 points gave Jackie Quick victory in the Ladies' Trethewey Putter on Saturday afternoon well in front of Elizabeth Murrish who took second place with 26 points on the last nine holes from Caz Hardman.

The Friday Fun competition was won by Kate Phillips, David Phillips and Nigel Waters with Roy Hillyar, Mike Jacka and Francis Vickerstaffe second.

Chris Bowden won the play-off for the Medals Finals Trophy.

Jennifer Chambers won the Ladies' Wednesday nine-hole Stableford with 16 points. Caz Hardman was second with 15 points on countback from Anna Harry.

Bank Holiday Stableford: 1, Barry Lee, 41; 2, Chris Dun,n 37; 3, Roland Hardman 35.

The Mid-Weekly Stableford and the Friday Fun Night competitions continue. The Kensa Peswarré Mixed Foursomes Trophy (Medal) is on Saturday afternoon and the men play for the Ford Trophy (singles medal) on Sunday morning.

Next week, the ladies play a nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning and the Ogres meet on Wednesday afternoon.
