Thistles problem to blow over

TROUBLESOME thistles at the old Horlicks dairy in Ilminster which have become a nuisance for residents should be tamed within a fortnight, the agents for the site owner have said.

Richard Baker, of Alder King, which represents Horlicks Farms and Dairies, said the tops of the thistles would be chopped off to stop them blowing across the road into people's houses and gardens.

He told the News on Thursday: "We are trying to sort out the thistles as we speak. We are getting quotes for people to come and do the work.

"I envisage the thistles will be sorted out within the next two weeks - hopefully sooner than that."

The News also asked Mr Baker whether efforts would be made to tidy the rest of the old dairy, which is becoming increasingly unattractive to visitors to Ilminster.

He said: "I will talk to our clients about the general state of the site but they were hoping the best way of tidying it up would be to go ahead with their plans for development."
