From the Burnham & Highbridge Weekly News, first published Friday 8th Jun 2007.
THE 21st annual triathlon is coming to Burnham this Sunday - with over 300 athletes in line to take part.
Competitors aged between 15 and 74 will be arriving from all over the country to tackle a 500m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run.
The starting pistol will be sounding at 8am for the swim in Burnham pool, before the race moves on foot to Love Lane and Brent Knoll - and finally up to Berrow Road and back to the pool.
The presentation ceremony for the category winners is scheduled for 1pm.
Race organiser, Rob Semple said: "Events like this could not go ahead if it wasn't for the help we receive from local organisations.
"We are very grateful to the staff of Burnham Pool, Sedgemoor District Council, the Lions, Wessex Ambulance Service, the Police, the staff at King Alfred Sports Centre, and the many local volunteers who give up their time to help out on the day"
Berrow Road will be closed between 8.00am and 1.00pm, and Burnham Pool will open to the public from 2.00pm.
Look out for the next issue (Wednesday) of the Weekly News for all the pics, and full report from the triathlon.
