Policing awards

POLICE are looking to recruit the public's help to find the most outstanding officers and staff in the force for the first-ever Community Policing Awards, which will be held next March. The awards, which will be held in March, are designed to recognise the exceptional contribution that individual neighbourhood beat managers, PCSOs, Special Constables and neighbourhood teams have made to their communities. Avon and Somerset Police Authority is backing the awards, which will honour employees who continually go the extra mile to reduce crime and improve the quality of life for residents in the neighbourhoods they serve. Members of the public have until December 31 to nominate for the following awards: Neighbourhood Beat Manager of the Year, PCSO of the Year, Special Constable of the Year, Neighbourhood Team of the Year, and Outstanding Customer Service Award. It is easy for members of the public to nominate through a dedicated website, www.communitypolicingawards.org.uk or by collecting a nomination form from police stations across the force.The closing date for nominations is December 31, 2007.  more...
