PARISH CHURCH: On Sunday a full church celebrated a Harvest Thanksgiving Service led by the Rev Geoffrey Bennett. Organist was Mr R Fletcher and lessons were read by Mr D Williams and Mr D Meade with the Gospel being read by Mrs C Asplet. The church was beautifully decorated and during the service the children of the Junior Church brought harvest gifts to the altar. All the produce donated is later delivered to the sick, elderly and lonely within the parish.
Mr Bennett's sermon concentrated on the joys of harvest, but also remembered those in other countries less fortunate than ourselves.
Later in the day, around a 100 parishioners enjoyed a harvest lunch at the village hall in aid of Umzimvubu, which is linked with Truro Diocese. All the food was provided by members of the congregation, who together with the catering committee received a vote of thanks from Mr Bennett.
There was also a sale of Christmas cards in aid of Umzimvubu and cards and other items in aid of Christian Aid and other charities.
