Bowls latest

From the Chard & Ilminster News, first published Friday 15th Dec 2006.

THERE were two local derbys and two reversals of fortune in this week's triples league at Chard Bowling Club.

In the second of three scheduled encounters between each team, two sides got their revenge from their first matches together.

The two derbys went the same way as the first round. The first was between the teams from Combe St Nicholas. Eagles again won their second match, but this time by a greater shot difference.

The second was between two Chard teams, Greyhounds against Moms & Papas. The same team won by only five shots this time.

The other two matches played saw a different outcome from the first round. Cerdics had a bigger win over Canaries (Merriott) and Roosters (East Coker) had the satisfaction of overturning the final result but by a reduced shot difference.

Roosters have now held top spot for four weeks running. Canaries, second two weeks ago, have dropped to sixth spot, Cerdics have moved up from third to take their place. Greyhounds have leapt from seventh to third in a week and Eagles, after their three weeks at the bottom of the league, have swapped places with Moms & Papas.

Both Bluebirds and Hot Shots (Merriott) have dropped one place.

Results: Eagles 17, Bluebirds 12; Cerdics 16, Canaries 6; Greyhounds 15, Moms & Papas 10; Roosters 18, Hot Shots 7.
