Free half term fun at City Museum

From the archive, first published Wednesday 11th Feb 2004.

Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery has organised a fun-packed programme of activities guaranteed to keep the kids busy while school's out next week.

The Get Into Your Head art workshops on Tuesday will give youngsters a chance to examine real skulls and make their own 3D books and on Thursday they can get stuck in with the Ear Ear! - Eye Eye! collage sessions.

Both workshops are based on the 'Giant Heads' from Nahem Shoa's Youth Culture Multi Culture exhibition and there are sessions for eight to 13-year-olds (2.30pm to 3.30pm) and for families with younger children (11am to midday).

Storytelling sessions are also being held on both days - Tuesday's tales will be themed around ancient objects from the Museum's own collections and on Thursday there will be stories and activities with an origami twist, based on the Maritime Paintings exhibition.

All activities are free of charge. Tickets for the art workshops will be available one hour in advance but places are limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
